I've always found photography difficult in the summer. I don't enjoy hot weather in any case but even that aside, the light is often too harsh and I struggle to find interesting scenes in the consistently green, dense foliage.

Yesterday though, I did chance on this set of harvested (?) fields (or was it dead grass), a contrasting colour which worked well enough for the scene.

This place should look great in autumn.

Inverted, stunning symmetry,
on a still, warm day in Sutherland.
Colours repeated and darkened
in this peaceful place.
Grey, bare Lewisian Gneiss rock.
Reddish-brown “out-of-season” heather.
Golden gorse, in profusion.
Emerald green trees and shrubs.
Orange bracken still awaiting rejuvenation.
A moment of perfection,
so easily missed,
in the rushing fever of life.
